gingerbread house

We've made it a tradition to decorate a gingerbread house or train each year and we finally got it done this past weekend.  The kids had so much fun spreading the frosting and putting on the candy the only problem was brex would eat the candy as fast as they could put it on.

you know you're doing something right when.....

You know you're doing something right when the teacher THANKS you for raising such a great kid multiple times during parent teacher conference.  This week has been SEP's for us, in other words parent teacher conference.

We had Trey's yesterday and he is doing amazing!  Both Cale and I were speechless when his teacher told us that he will get up in front of the class to read his reports.  If you don't know our trey trey, well lets just say he is the most sweetest, tender heart, shy kid.  He gets along with everyone and has an iron clad conscience.  So when we heard that his shyness hasn't stopped him from standing in front of everyone, lets just say we are very proud parents. His teacher raved about how far he's come and we can't wait to see him grow even more.

We had Elle's SEP today and her teacher just gushed about how thoughtful, helpful, and wonderful she has been.  She literally Thanked us for raising such a great girl.  She said that it shows that we care because of how much Elle cares about her classmates.  Elle's teacher tested her on her sight words while we were there and she knew 21 of them. She blew us away, I guess the norm is 7-10 words. She is excelling  in everything and we couldn't be prouder of her. It definitely made our day to hear such great words about our daughter.

Nothing brings greater joy than hearing that your children are happy, polite, caring and respectable to everyone they come in contact with. These are the times when you can breathe that sigh of relief to know that you are teaching them the right things and that they are taking it to heart.

GREAT JOB TREY AND ELLE!

what blogging?

So blogging has seemed to take a back seat to everything else that seems to be going on.  we had a blast on halloween.  we had ourselves a princess, mario and lightening mcqueen.  brex would tell everyone bye as we were walking away and everyone thought he was so cute.  i was impressed, brex ran and ran and kept up with the 2 older kids.  cale kept saying for your 1 step he takes 4.  trey and elle didn't want to stop they were having so much fun.

Firsts

Here is a picture of Trey kicking the football to the other team.  He did a great job.

Here is Brex's first hair cut.  I couldn't part with all of his curls so we cut the front and took some off the top and trimmed up his curls.  He looks older and it makes me sad to realize my baby is growing up.

Here is his new hiding spot.  I was cooking dinner and he disappeared into the cupboard.  He got a big kick out of sitting while I cooked. Don't mind the dirty look on his face. He just didn't want me to take his picture for the upteenth time :)
Here is the first time that Brex went down the big hydro tube at the city pool.
Here is miss elle.  we couldn't forget a picture of her.

flag football & other happenings

we have officially started flag football. when i say we i really mean trey has started flag football.  he's one of the smallest on the team which is a first for us. they combined 1st and 2nd graders and his team has some big boys on it. His first game is this saturday and he has practice tonight.  i will get some pictures this weekend.  other than that we are in full swing with school.  elle has the teachers wrapped around her finger and has made a tons of friends. we had trey's sep's last week and he is doing amazing! poor brex doesn't know what to do with the kids gone. once the weather starts to cool down maybe we can do daily park visits to help the time go faster.  he's also getting his bottom molars and boy has it been rough.  cale has been getting better every day since his surgery. cale's mom has been staying with us during the weeks and the kids have been in 7'th heaven with the round the clock spoiling they have been getting 5 days a week. not to mention the incredible amount of help she has been to cale and i. we cannot thank her enough, it wouldn't have been possible to do this without her (and cales dad for generously sharing her with us for all this time). in fact we have been really blessed throughout this whole time of trial with both of our families pitching in with babysitting, visits to the hospital, and more offers to help than we can count. its during times like these that you really see the value of a supportive family and we are blessed to have a couple of great ones.
