Another big blog post because lets face it I'm a total slacker when it comes to the blog nowadays. It's not that I don't want to remember the moments its more of a I just haven't had time to post. So here are the latest activities for us.
Valentines was fun this year. Each of the kids had to do a box and Trey being 9 doesn't tell us he needs a box until 1 1/2 days before his party for school. Not only does he wait but than he tells us that his class is having a contest for who can do the best one. Well I had the awesome idea to do a baseball but couldn't find a round box in the short time we had to do some shopping. Lucky for me I work with some amazing women and one of them mentioned that I just get a piñata so that's what we did and he won for the most unique one and unique idea. Seriously peeps it was worth the money to just buy the piñata and it worked perfect!!!
Brex had a party at preschool and he decorated his red box all by himself. He was pretty proud of it but so over the whole party by the time the teacher asked if he wanted to show the class his box. He said "Nope" Poor kid just wanted to go home. He had a blast just was done for the day.
Miss Elle was fighting bronchitis that whole week but was adamant about going to the party. She did her box blue and it turned out cute but I didn't get a picture of it. We did get to do spa mud masks and that was a lot of fun for us two.
Next up was the Dogtown 5k! Part of my family came down to run with Trey! Elle wanted to but was still recovering from being sick. My brothers and their future wives came down and ran it along with my nephew Zack and niece Codi. We had a house full for the weekend and loved it.
Trey did amazing!! The kid hasn't ran in forever and came across the finish line with a time of 25.48! Where he came up with that I will never know but man I couldn't have been prouder of how hard he worked! He ended up taking 3rd place in his age group and got a bronze medal! This kid never ceases to amaze me! I love his passion for running and life! Below his him crossing the finish line.
The kids got to play at the farm while we waited for all the fam to cross the finish line. All of the kids got their faces painted.
Here is the group crossing the finish line. 8 total runners from the fam. Way to go guys!
Not only did Trey take 3rd but Brandon did too and Josh took 2nd in his age group. We represented ourselves! After racing we took the kids swimming and they had a blast of course! And the biggest news of the weekend was that Dan finally got engaged to Michelle. Now I have 3 brothers getting married in the next few months! Welcome to the family ladies!
Melissa(Josh), Emily(Brandon) Michelle(Dan)
Elle had a choir concert that included 4 other schools besides hers. They all sang a couple of songs together and than each school sang 2 by themselves. It was fun to see her perform in such a big group. I love that she loves to sing. It's something that I use to do and I'm so glad that we get to share that talent.
Also this past weekend Trey and Cale had their 1st club baseball tournament. We only got to play 2 games out of the 4 because of a massive rain storm but honestly what a great start for our ballers. Trey was the starting pitcher and I'm not gonna lie, I couldn't breath when I realized that he was pitching first. I shouldn't have worried because this kid threw like a champ. He struck out 3 batters in the first inning and had a few more strike outs in the 3 innings that he threw. We played one of the best teams for our first game and he kept the game close and only let them score 2. Our boys played amazing, and kept the game 4-3 and we had a chance to win it. Our 2nd game we lost 6-3 but still a great score for being the first 2 official games that we played together. I see a bright future ahead for these boys!
These boys are such a fun group of kids and we have loved being apart of it.
Look at my little outlaws(Brex is totally geared out and Elle represents!)
The first base umpire came up to me between our games and said "I have to say that your uniforms are the best that I've ever seen. Your boys look sharp!" Than he asked me if Trey has played before in Cedar and I said no and he said are you sure because I remember him. I than remembered he played with the Vipers for the summer games last year. The ump than told me that he remembers Trey and that he's come such a long way and has had a major confidence boost. He said that his pitching was some of the best that he's seen in this age group. He said he knew exactly what he was doing up on the mound. Than he told us that who ever is helping him is doing an amazing job and knows what they are talking about!" I told him it's his daddy that is coaching him and he said "I'm excited to see where he goes and I think he will go far."
What an awesome experience for Trey to have.
Funny story with this boy of mine. In between the games(we played back to back) the coach is suddenly yelling my name and I see him walking Trey out of the dugout and Trey's hands are covering his mouth. So I run over and he comes off the field and says his tooth is almost out. The kid bit down on a protein bar and lost most of his tooth, it was barely hanging on. I didn't even know it was loose. Blood is all over his hands and face. Lucky for me we have awesome moms on the team who have wet wipes and napkins and helped me clean him up. It was while I was cleaning him up that the ump came and chatted with me. And all of this happened right as our boys are starting the 2nd game. I tell you what there is always something exciting when it comes to baseball.
Seriously so so so proud of how Trey did on the mound and games. The ump is right about our boys looking sharp! Go Outlaws!!!
