gophers

the kids have been on a gopher hunt for the past couple of weeks. Grandpa whitney has a gopher in his yard and they haven't been able to catch it yet.

here they are checking the trap with grandpa. I don't think it will go over very well if and when they find one.
they have also enjoyed some more swimming time. now that it's so hot it's almost a daily routine to go swimming and have otter pops. Trey loves otter pops he'd eat half a box at a time if we let him.

crab legs and sleep walking.........

Last night cale and i went out on a date. We ate at a buffet and then ended up chit chatting with friends for awhile. At dinner we both decided to be adventurous and try some crab legs. Anyone that knows me knows that i'm so not a fish fan of any kind. I don't even go for fish sticks and tuna fish is on the border. Cale loves shrimp and he's tried lobster before. I really thought that he'd go for the crab but it turns out that i actually didn't mind it and cale didn't like it at all. It was fun to try crab legs especially watching cale get the meat out of the legs. Overall it was a great evening and we both agree that we need more of those outings. Cale's parents watched the kids and when we got back trey was passed out on the floor and elle on the couch. i guess they played golf out in the field across the street forever and elle swang in her swing for the longest time. They had Popsicles and trey's favorite, pancakes. After we moved them into the bedroom so they could sleep better i went to bed and cale and his mom talked for awhile. About 2 in the morning cale came upstairs and looked in on us all and trey was gone. He woke me up and asked where trey had gone. my eyes popped opened and i looked around and figured that he'd gone back downstairs to sleep. Cale then tells me that he just came up from being down there and trey was not there. So we start the hunt for him and we find him asleep on the mat in the bathroom next to the sink. In all reality it's pretty funny.

swim lessons and basketball

today i finally got elle to swim lessons. I've been teaching the class since monday but today was the first day that cale brought her to class for me. She cried for the first 10 mins and then she saw all of the other kids having fun and decided that it wasn't so bad after all. She started laughing and had a blast. We'll see how tomorrow goes. While i had elle in swimming lessons cale took trey to go play basketball in the gym. They had so much fun that i couldn't get trey to leave for the longest time. When i mentioned tonight that we were going to do swimming lessons again tomorrow trey got all excited and started saying basketball, basketball. I asked if he wanted to play basketball tomorrow and his face lite up like a christmas tree and his response: Woo Hoo!!! Poor little guy i think he thought he was going to get to play again tonight.

down time

i got to come home from work early today and then cale took off to go golfing. I put elle down for a nap and now it's just trey and i enjoying a little down time together. Trey's been really low key today. I think it's because he didn't sleep so much lastnight. It's so nice that elle still takes naps. Trey quit taking naps when he was a year old. with elle still taking at least one nap a day it helps us make sure that trey is getting his alone time with us, even if it's low key like today.

before and after

Just wanted to show you all the before and after pics of trey and his new haircut. He's such a handsome boy.

look mommy look!

I met up with cale and the kids this afternoon for lunch at the park. We decided instead of staying at the park for the full time that we'd go to barnes and noble. It just opened up down here in st. george and all i can say is it's about time. Anyway we got into the store and the kids went crazy! all i could hear was look mommy look as they ran from book to book. It was like sticking them into a candy store. We told them that they could each get a new book. elle spotted a princess book that plays about 20 different tunes from all the disney princess movies. Once she picked it up she never let go of it. Trey couldn't make up his mind and kept switching his book. I think he ended up with a learn to read toy story book. He's got a cars book just like it and loves to look at it and tell us who each of the characters are. He tried to get us to buy the big book of there's a wocket in my pocket by dr. seuss. We already have the small book and that's his favorite by far so i had to sneak that one back on the shelf when he wasn't looking. We also found out that they do a story time on saturdays. We'll have to check that out one of these days.

haircuts, flowers and rocking

we finally gave trey a hair cut this last weekend and he looks so cute! it makes him look older but makes his head seem about 3 sizes smaller than it was. we spent the weekend rocking in rocking chairs outside, golfing, giving hair cuts and then trey gave elle a flower. Elle said some funny things the other day. Cale was trying to wake her up and she had a hard time opening her eyes. when she finally got them barely open she said "daddy i'm cute!" then went back to sleep. We bought her a pair of new pj's and they have a cupcake on them cale asked her what was on her shirt and she replied "that's a butt cake!" i have no idea where she got that from but it's hilarious when a 22 month old says butt cake.
